Pakistan Train Hijack: In a shocking incident, Baloch separatists hijacked the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express, carrying around 500 passengers, in Balochistan province on Tuesday.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants blew up a section of the track, forcing the train to stop inside a tunnel. They claimed to have taken 214 people hostage and killed more than 30 Pakistani military personnel, but local police disputed this, saying around 350 passengers were safe.
The BLA, a militant separatist group seeking autonomy for Balochistan, has issued a 48-hour deadline, threatening to kill the hostages if security forces do not withdraw. The group also demanded the release of all political prisoners in exchange for the safe return of the passengers. The train, which originated from Quetta, was attacked in a well-planned attack, and authorities are struggling to establish contact with those on board the train.

The Pakistan government has deployed security forces to deal with the crisis, and rescue operations are underway. Authorities are carefully assessing the situation, as the BLA remains adamant on its demands. The attack has raised concerns about security in Balochistan, a region long plagued by separatist violence. Further information on the situation is awaited as talks continue.
