He made the gesture while expressing gratitude to supporters for contributing to Trump’s victory. Musk thanked the crowd for “making this possible”, moments before placing his right hand over his heart and then extending the same hand directly in front of him as he spoke. “My heart aches for you. Thank you so much for guaranteeing the future of civilisation,” he said. Many subscribers on X, the social media platform he owns, have compared the gesture to a Nazi salute. Musk has since responded, posting on his social media account X: “Honestly, they need the best dirty trap. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is getting so tired.”
