Chhaava Box Office Collection: Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava, in which he plays the role of Sambhaji Maharaj, has become the biggest Hindi opener of 2025 after its release on February 14. According to industry tracker Saiknilak, Chhaava earned Rs 31 crore at the domestic box office on the first day. This is the biggest opener of Vicky’s career. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar.
Before Chhaava, the biggest Hindi opener of 2025 was Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya. The film earned Rs 15.3 crore. The makers of the film were accused of block bookings at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film earned over Rs 111 crore at the box office during its run. The suspected reason for block bookings is that producers are overselling tickets for their films, in an attempt to increase numbers and attract audiences.

Before Chhaava, Vicky’s biggest opener was ‘Bad Newz’. It earned around Rs 8 crore. What’s more, Chhava’s opening collection is equal to the combined collection of his six previous hits – Bad Newz (Rs 8 crore), Sam Bahadur (Rs 5 crore), The Great Indian Family (Rs 1 crore), Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (Rs 5 crore), Bhoot Part One The Haunted Ship (Rs 5 crore), Uri (Rs 8 crore).
Chhava was released on Valentine’s Day. The film was viewed over 1300 times in Mumbai, accounting for around 42 per cent of the total population. In Delhi-NCR, the film was viewed around 1300 times on the first day, accounting for around 27 per cent of the total population.
Chhava is facing a tough competition from Marvel Cinematic Universe’s recent film Captain America: Courageous Modern World. On the first day, the film earned Rs 4.3 crore in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The Anthony Mackie starrer hasn’t received positive reviews and given the general demand from the audience for the film, it doesn’t seem like it will be a real challenge for Chhaava.

Last week, Loveyapa starring Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan was released in theatres to huge crowds but after a week in theatres, it barely managed to earn Rs 7 crore. Himesh Reshammiya starrer Badmash Ravikumar, which released just a week ago, also earned around Rs 8 crore in a week. Now, it seems like both Loveyapa and Badmash Ravikumar are running out of time as Chhaava will likely steal their show. Chhaava also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Divya Dutta.
