Jalgaon train accident LIVE: 12 people were killed and 10 others injured in a train accident in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district on Wednesday. The incident took place when passengers of the Pushpak Express rushed out of their coaches fearing a fire in the train while the Karnataka Express was passing on the adjacent track. Some passengers were hit by the moving train. The incident caused panic among the passengers, leading to some passengers jumping off the train onto the adjacent track.
At that time, the Bengaluru-New Delhi Karnataka Express was running on the same track from the opposite direction. Some passengers of the Pushpak Express, who were running on the track for safety, were hit by the moving train while others were injured. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis informed that the local administration is working closely with the railway administration and prompt action is being taken to treat the injured. “8 ambulances have been dispatched. Devendra Fadnavis said, “The general hospital as well as other nearby private hospitals have been kept ready to treat the injured people. Emergency equipment like glass cutting machines, floodlights etc. have also been kept ready.”
